How to get to Monteverde

From La Fortuna (Arenal Volcano)
Drive around the Arenal Lake towards Tilarán, once you are there follow the instructions
from Tilarán to Monteverde.
From Tilarán
Follow the signs to Monteverde, you will pass the following towns: Quebrada Grande,
Chiripa, Patios, El Dos, Cabeceras, Turín, Los Tornos y Cañitas.
From San José
Drive the Panamerican Highway #1 via Alajuela, San Ramón, Puntarenas,
At the Puntarenas intersection continue the road north towards Liberia.
At kilometer 133 you will find the road to Sardinal on your right.
Take that road up the mountains and you will reach Monteverde.
Another entrance will be continuing the Panamerican Highway
passing the Sardinal entrance, to the kilometer 149.
Just before the bridge at Lagarto River turn right,
this gravel road will lead you also to Santa Elena and Monteverde.
From Liberia
If you are coming from Liberia or through the Tempisque bridge, on the
Panamerican Highway driving south to San Jose you will find the detour
on the left to "Las Juntas". Take that road and continue up the mountain,
you will find signs to Santa Elena and Monteverde.
